Spectators watch a soccer match in Baghdad
Erbil (Iraq champions for three years running) maintained its lead in the second group in the second Shabab Al-Ordon Championship 2009, despite its 2-2 tie against the Syrian Al-Majd.
In Petra Stadium in the Jordanian capital of Amman, the Syrian team led on a goal from Abdul Hadi Al-Hariri 14 minutes in, but Erbil responded with two goals from international players Halgurd Mulla Mohammed Taher and Hussein Abdul Wahed in the 54th and 56th minutes, before Syrian Mohammed Al-Waked tied it up again at minute 65.
Erbil stayed in the lead, taking advantage of Al-Wahdat’s settling for a 2-1 win over Al-Hussein Irbid.
With these scores, the second group rankings are as follows:
1. Iraqi Irbil: 4 points. 5 goals scores. 4 goals scored against.
2. Jordanian Al-Wahdat: 4 points. 4 goals scored. 3 goals scored against.
3. Syrian Al-Majd: 2 points.
4. Al-Hussein Irbid: nothing.
