The legendary singer Sabah celebrated her 83rd birthday on November 10th, when Joseph al-Gharib and a large group artists and media professionals threw her a lavish surprise party.

Sabah appeared radiant in a short, black dress. The party included dinner and a cake, which Sabah cut herself after dinner.

The singer was surrounded by friends and family, including her niece Lina Feghali Malouf. Malouf is preparing to follow in her aunt's footsteps and delve into singing.

Pascale denies divorce rumors

Singer Pascale Machalani denied rumors that she may be on the verge of divorce.

Pascale, who married composer Melhem Shdeed last September, has a new song "Am Thadidni Baddak Etalikni" (You are threatening me with divorce). When Mawtani asked her about the matter, she laughed at length and said she is living a honeymoon with her husband.

"This is a song carrying a message that I dedicate to all the women who have to hear this word," she said.

Pascale also said she is starting to become a housewife.

"I try to prepare healthy dishes that I love, and I refer to my mother’s recipes on how to make them," she said.

Pascale will fly to Turkey in early December to film a music video for "Am Thaddidni Baddak Talikni", which Fadi Haddad will direct. Wael Ashkar wrote the song's lyrics and Pascale's husband composed the music.

Pascale also told Mawtani that she is preparing for a new album, which will include a "cute" Algerian song. She also plans to take up acting in 2011.

"Wait for me [to emerge] as an actress. If I succeed I would have added something new to my journey, and if I do not, I would have tried," she said.

Haifa awaits trial verdict

Star Haifa Wehbe is waiting for the court to rule about a lawsuit she filed against the editor of "al-Jaras" magazine, Nidal al-Ahmadiyya, whom she accuses of fabricating news about her.

Haifa announced she will donate any financial compensation she receives to the Lebanese Red Cross.

Haifa also used several recent media appearances to deny rumors that she was pregnant and had undergone artificial insemination in the United States.

The star has also been busy with several concerts. After performing in the Formula 1 "Ya Salam" Festival on the island of Yas in Abu Dhabi, she sang in the Movenpick Hotel on the first day of Eid al-Adha in Beirut. She traveled to Cairo on the second day of Eid and performed at the al-Masa Hotel.

Samara blackmailed

Iraqi belly dancer Samara said she was recently blackmailed while having dinner with a group of friends. The star received a call on her private cell phone -- one that few people know the number -- from an anonymous individual demanding $500,000.

The anonymous caller claimed to own a set of photographs of the star that would cause a scandal if released to the media.

Samara denied the existence of such photos, but said she was concerned the caller had created disgraceful photos using Photoshop.
